Please join QEIF to save sight

The World Health Organisation estimates that 80% of blindness around the world is preventable or treatable.

It is our purpose to provide world-class clinical care and treatment, research and education to make this a reality. We will continue our research into debilitating eye conditions to save sight.

By supporting the Queensland Eye Institute Foundation you can be an important part of our sight-saving achievements.

Fundraise for research

QEIF receives no government funding and relies on the fundraising efforts of individuals and organisations is vital to our medical research, support services and clinical care for those who are blind or vision impaired.

It’s not just about donations though; your help in spreading the word about QIEF’s vital work and the services we provide is just as important and appreciated.

Fundraise Registration Form

What to do to get started?

Choose a fundraising idea or event

Throughout the year, our supporters hold sausage sizzles, movie nights or golf days to raise funds. Some ideas to inspire you:

  • Hold a quiz night, morning tea or themed function with gold coin donations, guessing competitions and raffles
  • Challenge yourself to a fun run or bike ride
  • Add an auction or raffle to an existing event
  • Ask people to sponsor you for a sporting event or challenge
  • Hold a bingo or quiz night

The best advice we can give you is to it simple and have fun!

Register your event or activity

When your registration is received, a member of the fundraising team will contact you to chat through your plans. We’ll also provide you with an authority to fundraise. There is government legislation that requires people raising money to hold a Letter of Authorisation issued by the organisation they are helping. This applies to individuals, groups, workplaces or organisations. QEIF can issue these letters once we approve your event or activity.

Start fundraising

Promote your event to friends, colleagues, family, neighbours and anyone you want to attend and most importantly have fun!

You can fundraise for your event through QEIF’s mycause page.

If any of these ideas inspire you, or if you have your own great idea, then we’d love to hear from you. To advise that you’d like to  fundraise, please register your event with us via the online link above, or contact us via email on info@qei.org.au or please call 07 3239 5050 during office hours.

Give in celebration

Share your celebration with QEIF and invite your family, friends or colleagues to donate in lieu of presents.

If you are planning to hold a party to mark a special occasion, why not consider a celebration donation and ask your guests to donate to QEIF in lieu of a gift.

By choosing to support QEIF on your special day Celebration Donations enable you to celebrate your special occasion whilst helping to raise vital funds and awareness for a great cause and  sight saving medical research.

Online celebration giving

It’s really easy to set up your own celebration donation page online through mycause.com.au with photos, videos and a personal message to your friends, family and guests. Your page will have a unique web link which you can send to everyone and let them know they can visit your page, make a donation and leave you a special message. You can also promote it via social media to raise extra funds.

Creating your personal celebration donation page is quick and easy but most importantly, secure. Donations are collected online and automatically transferred to QEIF. All contributions over $2 are tax deductible and your guests will receive a receipt automatically when they make their donation on your page.

Offline celebration giving

Your friends, family or colleagues may want to give you cash or cheques for your special occasion. QEI has donation envelopes available for to give out at your party if required. You can then collect the envelopes at the end of your special event, complete one of our Give in Celebration forms and post it to QEIF.

All contributions over $2 are tax deductible and if your guests complete their details on the donation envelope a receipt will be sent to them directly from QEIF.

Give in memory

It is often hard to know how best to commemorate a lost loved one.

Making a donation to QEIF in memory is a positive and lasting way of celebrating a life while helping to save sight through medical research. If you have lost someone close to you and you would like to make a difference in their name, there are several ways you can.

If you would like to make a single donation now in memory of a loved one, you can select this option on our online donation page.

Organising a collection at a funeral

We understand losing a loved one is a difficult time for all families and their friends and we are very mindful of this when assisting with a funeral collection. We can provide in-memory donation envelopes to make the collection easier. Simply contact us at QEIF on 07 3239 5050 and we can send out specially marked envelopes to the Funeral Director so attendees can make an offering in the name of the loved one. In memoriam donations are a fitting way to honour the memory of a friend or a loved one.

All gifts are acknowledged and tax deductible receipts for donations over $2 are sent directly to the donor if they fill out their details on the envelope.

Requesting donations instead of flowers

If you would like attendees to make a donation to QEIF instead of flowers, we suggest you make a suggestion in the death notice. For example: ‘Donations in lieu of flowers to Queensland Eye Institute Foundation would be appreciated.’

Creating an online memorial page

Create a webpage featuring a picture and memories of your loved one, where family and friends can visit, leave their own tribute messages and donate online. Your tribute page is a dedicated place where friends and family can connect, share memories, or make a donation in memory of your loved one. It is often used in addition to in-memory donation envelopes at the funeral. You can build your In Memory Page and share it with your friends and family, who may also like to contribute and provide support. Each donation is recorded on your page along with any messages of support from your friends and family.
