Tim is taking part in an Inherited Retinal Disease clinical trial at QEI. “This is the most promising thing in the world that we have, to reduce the deterioration of my eye sight and the hope that it will allow me to see for as long as possible.”
As a researcher herself, Abigail recognises the resources and time it takes to make important discoveries. She also recognises that it is thanks to research of the past, that her life changing surgery was possible.
Like many people with RP, Adrian’s vision loss is progressive and he is expected to have no remaining vision by the time he turns 70.
“It takes time, but given resources and support, often unexpected breakthroughs can happen.”
By the age of five, Oscar had endure over 15 operations to control his congenital glaucoma. He has now sadly developed a cataract in his glaucoma affected eye.
Maintaining the small vision Phoebe has would be a dream outcome. Preventative glaucoma research gives her hope that she will get to see her children grow up.
